Cognos 10.2: Customizing Report Studio Image Dialog Default Path

With every version of Cognos, the location of the Javascript file that configures default values for the "Insert Image" dialog has changed. I wasn't able to find this readily available, but after some digging have narrowed it down to the below location in v10.2.

<Cognos installation>\webcontent\pat\cchl\dialogs\_MR9_async.js

Be sure to create a back up copy, then replace all instances of "/samples/images/" with "../<name of new path>". Don't forget to add an authoring rule for the directory in WebDAV.

For reference, here are previous versions:

Cognos 8.2 and older: "<Cognos Installation>/webcontent/pat/rsapp.htm"
Cognos 8.3: "<Cognos installation>/webcontent/pat/dialogs/_I35_async.js"
Cognos 8.4: "<Cognos installation>/webcontent/pat/cchl/dialogs/_FO5_async.js"
Cognos 10.1.1: "Cognos installation>/webcontent/pat/cchl/dialogs/_J19_async.js

    Hello, Is it possible to change the default serveur URL too, not juste the image folder path?

    Could you be more specific? Do you mean the host name of the server? Default installation path?

    This article is a copy of a Cognos technote which has been removed since version 10.x of Cognos. No known workaround.

ChromeOS Flow by Hexxeh Install to HDD

I finally decided to pull out the netbook again and check out the ChromeOS release of Flow by Hexxeh . I got the image downloaded, untar'd and imaged to the thumbdrive. Now comes the part when I want to actually install it to the solid-state disk in my Asus EeePC, right? Well, online sources said to just run /usr/sbin/chromeos-install and it would be taken care of. It kept erroring with "Attempt to install to a removable device: /dev/sda". Of course, this is my thumbdrive so that would make sense. Since it took me some digging to figure this one out, I thought I'd throw up the solution here to make it a little more visible on the Interwebs. Instead, run this command: /usr/sbin/chromeos-install /dev/sdb This should work if your internal device is at least 8gb. Unfortunately for me, mine is 4gb and my source media is 2gb.
